For those not aware, Sam Waterston is a member (emeritus) of the board of directors of Refugees International. This worthwhile organization works independently of the federal government and the UN to assist refugees in many troubled parts of the world. Mr. Waterston has and continues to give both his time and other resources to the organization.
Sometimes fans ask what they can do to help as well. One easy way to assist RI is to contribute monetarily. They are appreciative of anything you can donate. For example, November 15, 2000, some of us sent donations in honor of Sam's 60th birthday. This has become an annual fund-raising event for the organization.
